Set in the summer of 1988 in up-state New York, Madeline Dare is a fledgling journalist desperate to escape Syracuse. Her lightweight features for the local paper are an unlikely source for her longed-for ticket out of town...until she's shown a set of dog tags with her favorite cousin's name, found at the site of an unsolved double murder. Desperate to prove him innocent, Maddie finds herself trapped in a minefield of explosive, long-buried family secrets that trigger a string of grisly new murders endangering herself and everyone she knows.
